#FireDrillFridays: There's video and then there's LIVE video

At this point, many marketers were not only surprised but they also felt duped, as many advertisers have specifically in the past few years pushed video and video advertising options in Facebook to clients, due to the fact that video was a highly-favored (or seemed to be) piece of content on that platform.

Major social media publishers, in reaction to this news, have completely, or almost completely, stopped creating long-form video content for Facebook.

So what happens now?

Because 2018 is a year in which authenticity and accountability have all but been demanded from social networks, there is a solution for many people and companies still wanting to pursue video: live video.

Here are a few tips to keep in mind as your dip your toes in the waters of live video:

1. Prepare for the first few to be uncomfortable. For the first couple of live videos you produce, you may feel awkward. Luckily, this is something that tends to improve over time and feel more natural.

2. There are more ways for your audience to engage with you during the video itself. Pay attention to comments and questions from your followers as they roll in during live videos. This is a great way for you to boost engagement levels on your page!

3. Don't be afraid to go off script. Live video can be much more casual and personable than scripted or heavily-produced video and should be approached as such. Show that you're a real, human person.
