Get the Original "Like Any Good Dip" Girl's Recipe for an 8-Layer Dip

"Like any good dip", layered dips have been around for a long time, and at this point, they've become quite the staple at family gatherings, football parties and church functions (all three very important religions in the South). Layered dips have also become a joke format on Twitter, Facebook and other social media networks.

That said, here's MY TAKE on the classic 7 or 8 Layered Dip recipe.

It's because I didn't come up with the recipe. I'm giving you my interpretation of it, with credit to some of the recipes I've found online, both here and here.

Wouldn't it be silly if I claimed to have invented this recipe, when all of my other online content is CLEARLY so different?

When dealing with blogs or social media posts, it is okay to admit that you didn't create the thing that you're sharing. It's also okay to admit that you were inspired by something else you saw.

Ultimately, what IS important is to give credit where credit is due, especially when it comes to creative content or ideas that you may find on the internet.

Anyways, back to the dip.

Here is a list of ingredients you can find at your local grocery store or market. Since this recipe is based on people ripping things that are pre-packaged, most of the ingredient list contains pre-packaged items, but you are allowed to make your own from scratch.

In fact, it is HIGHLY ENCOURAGED that you create your own online materials, I mean, uh, ingredients from scratch.

Though some have a more difficult time with that concept.

Ingredients!

  • 1 can of refried beans

  • 1 small package of ground beef (optional). I've also seen recipes using chicken or bacon. See how I linked back to the original posts?

  • 1 packet of taco seasoning

  • 1 container of sour cream

  • shredded cheese (I like mild cheddar or Colby Jack. Most recipes I've found say 1/2 cup, but this is the internet, and we all know we're going to end up using the entire packet of cheese.)

  • 1 can chiles

  • 1 can chopped tomatoes, drained

  • packaged or homemade guacamole

  • shredded lettuce (about 3/4 cup)

  • optional: lime juice, black olives, scallions

  • black pepper

Why no added salt?

Because I'm salty enough.

Directions:

1. Cook any of the meat if you plan to use it. Brown the ground beef, avoid salmonella with the chicken. Throw a few slabs of bacon on there. This is a popular recipe, but you're welcome to customize it however you wish.

Customizing other items, such as content you find online, might be more of a gray area, so best to be wary of doing so.
